Antique 14k yellow gold amethyst and Edwardian lavalier necklace
Lavalier necklaces became especially fashionable during the Edwardian period, when jewellery design shifted toward lighter, more delicate forms inspired by lacework, ribbons, and floral garlands. Often suspended with gemstones or pearls, lavaliers were designed to elongate the neckline and complement the refined silhouettes popular in the early 1900s. Amethysts were particularly admired for their rich violet colour and were frequently used in romantic and feminine jewellery of the era.
This antique 14k yellow gold Edwardian lavalier necklace features an amethyst drop within an elegant openwork design characteristic of early 20th century craftsmanship. The delicate proportions and flowing lines reflect the understated sophistication associated with Edwardian jewellery, when fine pieces were created with careful attention to movement, balance, and ornamental detail.
