Antique 9 ct. yellow gold heart in your hand pin
Heart-in-hand jewellery carries a long history of sentimental symbolism dating back to the Georgian and Victorian periods, where motifs of hands, hearts, and locks were used to represent love, fidelity, and emotional connection. By the early 20th century, these symbolic designs remained popular in brooches and pins, particularly those produced in England’s jewellery centres such as Birmingham. The use of coloured glass and small diamond accents added both sentiment and decorative detail to everyday jewellery of the era.
This antique 9ct yellow gold heart-in-hand pin bears UK hallmarks for Birmingham, 1904, and features a blue glass flower alongside a diamond chip set within a ring on the finger. The bracelet terminates in a small heart-shaped lock, adding another layer of Victorian symbolism to the design. Measuring approximately 3.8 x 1.5 cm and weighing 3.1 grams, the piece reflects the detailed workmanship and sentimental jewellery traditions associated with the Edwardian period.
