Antique Victorian coin purse
Coin purses became essential accessories during the Victorian period, when women commonly carried small amounts of currency separately within handbags or chatelaines. Often crafted from leather, mesh, or decorative metal frames, these purses reflected the era’s appreciation for finely made personal accessories that balanced practicality with ornamentation. As travel, shopping, and social outings became more common in the 19th century, compact purses like these became part of everyday dress.
This antique Victorian coin purse reflects the detailed craftsmanship and decorative styling associated with late 19th century accessories. Made from brass on the outside, and silver tone metal on the inside. The internal mechanism features two springs designed to securely hold two coin sizes. Measuring 2 3/8" length, 1 3/8" width and 5/8" height. Weighing 32 grams. In good condition.
Please note: There are noticeable solder marks along the top and bottom
